She obtained the Bachelor's degree and the PhD in chemical sciences at the Universidad de Barcelona. She made a predoctoral stay at the Institute de Chimie des Substances Naturelles (CNRS, France) in the group of Prof. Lukacs and another 18-month postdoctoral stay, at the Max-Planck Institut für Kohlenforschung (Germany), working with Prof. Fürstner. Since 2011 she is University Professor in the Organic Chemistry area at the URV. Her research interests focus on the development of new synthetic protocols for the preparation of molecules with biological activity. In recent years, her research has been focused on the synthesis of sphingolipids that inhibit sphingosine kinase enzymes, as a therapeutic strategy against cancer and in obtaining glycosphingolipid analogs with immunomodulatory activity. She is currently the lead researcher on the project: "Targeting new modulators of sphingolipids metabolism for therapeutic cancer intervention."
She has an extensive teaching career in the field of Organic Chemistry, Oenological Chemistry, Asymmetric Synthesis and Glycobiology, having actively participated in the dissemination of chemistry in secondary schools. Regarding activities related to Management, she has been the coordinator of the URV Doctoral Program in Chemistry with honors (7 years), member of the Executive Committee and treasurer of the Specialized Carbohydrate Group of the RSEQ (4 years), member of the URV Doctoral Committee (9 years), Secretary of the URV Doctoral Committee (4 years) and Secretary of the Faculty of Chemistry (URV, 3 years). She has been also responsible for the implementation of the Quality Management System in her research group.
He has participated in the organization of different symposiums. Thus, she has been the economic manager of the 22nd Biennial of Organic Chemistry (RSEQ), as well as secretary and economic manager of the VII Jornadas de Carbohidratos de la RSEQ. She is currently the Chair of the Organizing Committee of the 13th Spanish-Italian Symposium on Organic Chemistry.
